Yowamushi Pedal Reaches 100th Volume: 100-Hour Free Reading Campaign Launched for the Giant Series!

Today, we are witnessing a historic milestone in the world of sports manga. The legendary series Yowamushi Pedal, penned by Wataru Watanabe and beloved by millions for its depiction of cycling, has officially released its 100th volume today. To celebrate this massive achievement, the LINE Manga platform is offering fans an unprecedented opportunity: the first 99 volumes of the series have been made completely free for 100 hours.
This special campaign, which began on May 8th, will continue until May 12th at 03:59 AM (Japan time). Yowamushi Pedal, which began its serialization in Weekly Shōnen Champion magazine in 2008, has transcended being just a sports manga over its 18-year publication history to become a cultural icon. The story follows Sakamichi Onoda, an otaku passionate about anime and games, as his ability to climb steep hills with his old bicycle used for trips to Akihabara is discovered, leading him to join the Sohoku High School cycling club and step into professional road racing.
The creator of the series, Wataru Watanabe, is known for being a passionate cyclist himself. Watanabe's participation in amateur races and his translation of real cycling experiences into his drawings are among the biggest factors that have made the series so authentic and technically consistent. With over 32 million copies printed worldwide, the series was awarded "Best Shonen Manga" at the 39th Kodansha Manga Awards in 2015. Furthermore, it has evolved into a massive franchise with a five-season anime series produced by TMS Entertainment, live-action films, and popular stage plays.
