Yuki Kodama's Ao no Hana Utsuwa no Mori Manga Gets Live-Action Series, Starring Rena Matsui

Yuki Kodama's beloved manga Ao no Hana Utsuwa no Mori is set to debut as a live-action series. According to Anime News Network, former SKE48 and Nogizaka46 member Rena Matsui will star in the lead role of this romantic production. The series is planned to air this fall.
The manga was serialized in Kodansha's Monthly Afternoon magazine from 2020 to 2022. The story follows a young woman who works at a flower shop as she confronts her past and develops an emotional bond with a man she meets by chance. Yuki Kodama is known for previous works such as Kids on the Slope (Sakamichi no Apollon) and Love So Life, which have received critical acclaim and garnered a wide fanbase.
Rena Matsui's involvement in this project came as a big surprise, especially for fans of J-pop and idol culture. After her career in SKE48 and later Nogizaka46, Matsui turned to acting and has appeared in many series and films. The Ao no Hana Utsuwa no Mori adaptation will be her first major production in a romantic lead role.
The production team and other cast members have not yet been announced, but given the warm and sincere storytelling of Kodama's previous works, the series is expected to capture a similar atmosphere. Fans who were enchanted by the jazz music and adolescent themes of Kids on the Slope will now witness an adult love story.
Live-action adaptations continue to be popular in the manga industry in recent years. Bringing a quiet yet profound romantic manga like Ao no Hana Utsuwa no Mori to the screen seems likely to please existing fans and draw new viewers into this universe. More casting details and platform information are expected in the coming weeks.
