30th Anniversary Celebration from D.N.Angel Creator Yukiru Sugisaki: New Art Book "Valfart" and Special Exhibition Announced

Yukiru Sugisaki, the genius behind unforgettable works such as D.N.Angel, The Candidate for Goddess, and Lagoon Engine, is celebrating the 30th anniversary of her professional mangaka career with a magnificent project. In honor of this special milestone that has excited the artist's fans, a new art book titled "Valfart", which brings together her most distinguished illustrations, will be published under the KADOKAWA label on May 22, 2026. This book collects the artistic evolution Sugisaki has undergone since her debut in 1994 into a single volume.
To celebrate the release of the book, a special exhibition will be held at the EDITION88 flagship store in the Gotanda district of Tokyo. The "30th Anniversary Artworks 'Valfart' Publication Commemoration Exhibition", which will take place between May 21 and June 7, 2026, will host rare works by the artist that have never been displayed in large-scale exhibitions before. The exhibition will feature works from many different titles, including not only the legendary D.N.Angel series but also the sequel series DDNAngels which began in 2024, the sci-fi themed The Candidate for Goddess, Lagoon Engine, and 1001 Knights.
Yukiru Sugisaki left an indelible mark on the manga world, especially with the D.N.Angel series, which began in 1997 and concluded in 2021 after long hiatuses. The series, which tells the story of 14-year-old Daisuke Niwa transforming into the legendary thief Dark Mousy when he feels love, was a favorite of a generation in the late 90s and early 2000s.
