Netflix's Live-Action Viral Hit Series Delayed: New Release Date Announced!

Some disappointing news has arrived for fans eagerly awaiting the addition of the Viral Hit (known in Korean as Ssaumdokhak) live-action series to the Netflix library. Originally planned to meet audiences at an earlier date, the production will now premiere on June 11 following a two-week delay announced by Netflix. Starring the talented Japanese actor Ōji Suzuka, the series is preparing to bring the world of the popular webtoon to our screens with real actors.
So, what is this Viral Hit craze? The story revolves around Hobin Yoo (Kota Shimoda in the Japanese version), a weak high school student who is bullied at school and struggles with financial difficulties. Thanks to a mysterious "NewTube" channel he discovers by chance, Hobin learns how to fight and starts earning money by battling opponents much stronger than himself. Blending action and humor, this series combines modern-day social media fame with martial arts.
The name behind the series is the famous writer Taejun Pak, known for massive productions like Lookism. Produced under the PTJ Company umbrella, this work has reached millions of readers worldwide. As you may recall, an anime adaptation of the series produced by the Okuruto Noboru studio was also released in April 2024. The live-action version aims to take this popularity a step further by presenting the webtoon's dynamic fight scenes in a realistic atmosphere.
This two-week delay seems to provide the production team with extra time to make final touches and polish the visual effects. Although the wait has been extended slightly for Viral Hit fans, the presence of a rising star like Ōji Suzuka in the lead role keeps expectations high. This adventure, which will begin on Netflix screens on June 11, will also be an important indicator for the future of webtoon adaptations. Let's see what kind of impact Hobin's rise will have on the screen!
