The Ramparts of Ice Season 2 Premieres on Netflix on October 1: New Trailer and Visual Released
The Ramparts of Ice (Koori no Jouheki) anime is returning with its second season. With the official announcement, a new promotional video and key visual for the series' 2nd season have been released. The anime will meet viewers worldwide on Netflix on October 1, 2026. Although it is not yet clear whether Netflix will release the season all at once or weekly, fans are delighted that the platform continues to hold the streaming rights to the series.
The newly released trailer continues to focus on the sweet but stagnant relationship between Koyuki Hikawa and Minato Amamiya. Koyuki, who hides her feelings behind an "ice wall," slowly thawing out, and Minato's patient yet persistent approach will remain at the center of the story in the second season. In the visual, our main quartet—Koyuki, Minato, Yoruka Amamiya, and Jun Abe—appears in school uniforms in a composition reflecting a winter atmosphere. The trailer also features a brief snippet of the 2nd season's opening song.
For those who don't know, Koori no Jouheki actually has a rather interesting history. Written and illustrated by mangaka Kocha Agasawa, the series first started in 2020 as an independent web manga on LINE Manga and X (formerly Twitter). This "ice queen" romantic comedy, which tells the story of how a cold and distant girl can actually be shy and adorable, quickly went viral in Japan, and in 2023, Shueisha began publishing its printed volumes. The series has surpassed 8 volumes to date and sold over 4 million copies.
The anime's first season aired between April and June 2025 and lasted a total of 13 episodes. It received full marks from both manga readers and new viewers, especially for its dialogue-driven narrative, minimal yet heartfelt animation style, and successful portrayal of the characters' inner monologues. The studio remains the same as in the first season, and the director and voice cast are expected to be largely retained. In the first season, Koyuki was voiced by Anna Nagase, and Minato by Shoya Chiba.
The second season will cover the culture festival and winter vacation arcs, which are among the most beloved arcs of the manga. In other words, we may finally see those expected big steps in Koyuki and Minato's relationship. If you loved the first season, we can say this season will be much more emotionally satisfying.
