Starring IU (as Seong Hui-ju) and Byeon Woo-seok (as Prince Yi An), Perfect Crown is set in an alternative South Korea governed by a constitutional monarchy in the 21st century. The story follows a contract marriage between an ambitious chaebol heiress who has everything but lacks "noble" status, and a sorrowful prince who carries royal blood but holds no power. The series made a huge splash, entering the top 10 on Disney+ charts in 43 countries from its very first week of release.
The web novel, which will be published under the title Perfect Crown in Royal Academy of Korea, will not just be a summary of the series; rather, it will serve as a "prequel." The series, planned to consist of 30 episodes in total, will focus on the characters' student years at the Royal Academy and their pasts, which were only briefly touched upon in the series.
