First Trailer and Poster Released for The Legend of Kitchen Soldier Live-Action Series: The War in the Kitchen Begins!

Another exciting adaptation news has arrived from the popular webtoon world! The highly anticipated live-action series The Legend of Kitchen Soldier has made its debut with its first teaser video and official poster. Premiering on TVING and tvN on May 11, 2026, the series tells the extraordinary and entertaining success story of a soldier who swaps his rifle for a kitchen knife and his ammunition belt for an apron. The released trailer highlights that sharp yet fantastic transition between military discipline and kitchen order as the lead character joins the unit.
The series is based on the popular webtoon (original title: Chwisabyeong Jeonseolyi Dweda) written by J Robin and illustrated by Lee Jin-su, which was published on Naver between 2019 and 2023. At the center of the story is Kang Seong-jae (Park Ji-hoon), who comes from a poor family and joins the military to escape harsh living conditions. Although Seong-jae is a top-performing trainee at the military training center, he is assigned to the kitchen unit due to the experience he gained in his father's food truck. However, Seong-jae will not be an ordinary cook; a game-like "Path of the Cook" hologram, visible only to him, appears and gives him various tasks, allowing him to develop his culinary skills like an RPG character.
Directed by Jo Nam-hyeong, known for the Tale of the Nine Tailed series, the production also draws attention with its strong cast. Park Ji-hoon, who rose to fame with Weak Hero Class 1 and the box office hit The King's Warden, is joined by talented names such as Yoon Kyung-ho, Han Dong-hee, and Lee Hong-nae. It was also announced that Lee Sang-yi will be in the cast with a special role. Industry experts predict that the trend of adapting webtoons into live-action series (K-Drama) will continue to grow globally with productions that combine such "slice of life" and fantastic elements. Indeed, the series has already drawn international attention by being invited to the Series Mania 2026 festival in France before its premiere.
Consisting of 12 episodes, The Legend of Kitchen Soldier will meet the audience every Monday and Tuesday. In the released poster, the characters standing as if preparing for a war among kitchen utensils clearly reflect the humorous tone of the series that blends military discipline with kitchen chaos. Fans are impatient to see how the famous "leveling up" mechanics from the original work will be reflected on screen and how Seong-jae will change the fate of an entire unit with the meals he prepares. If you love both food-themed content and military comedies, this series seems to be a candidate for one of the favorites of 2026.
