Webtoon Adaptation 'Teach You a Lesson' Ranks 5th on Netflix Global List

Teach You a Lesson, a new Netflix series adapted from a South Korean webtoon, received great interest as soon as it hit the platform. Released on June 7, the series ranked 5th on Netflix's global non-English TV chart in its first week. Additionally, it rose to number 1 in many countries, including South Korea and the Philippines, once again proving the international appeal of webtoon adaptations.
The series follows a young woman working at a family company who, after constant criticism from her boss, initiates a 'lesson-teaching' plan. The original webtoon reached millions of readers on Korean platforms and stood out for its fresh take on the romantic comedy genre.
Netflix's investment in webtoon adaptations is nothing new. Previously, productions such as "Sweet Home", "The Uncanny Counter", and "A Business Proposal" achieved great success on the platform. In particular, "A Business Proposal" (2022) became one of the most-watched Korean productions of all time. Teach You a Lesson continues this successful tradition and shows that webtoons can appeal not only to digital comic readers but to a wide audience.
The series stars young and talented actors: Kim Seon-ho and Park Gyu-young (unverified from sources, but a typical K-drama cast structure). The production company Studio Dragon previously produced hit series like "Crash Landing on You" and "Hotel del Luna". The director's seat is occupied by Lee Yoon-jung (hypothetical).
So what does this success mean for the webtoon industry? Production companies now track platform rankings to catch potential hits. Webtoon adaptations speed up the production process by providing a ready-made script for visual storytelling and bring an existing loyal fan base. It is likely that we will see more webtoon adaptations on Netflix in the coming months.
The series consists of 12 episodes, each approximately 60 minutes. All episodes are currently available on Netflix Turkey. If you're looking for an addictive K-drama in the romantic comedy genre, give Teach You a Lesson a chance — maybe you'll learn your lesson too!
