First Teaser Released for Girls und Panzer das Finale Part 5: Release Date Announced!

We are one step closer to the end of the highly anticipated final marathon of the Girls und Panzer series, which made the sport of tankery (Sensha-do) beloved in the anime world. The first teaser video for Girls und Panzer das Finale: Part 5, the fifth installment of the series' massive six-part final project, has been shared through official channels. According to the announcement, the film will meet audiences in theaters in Japan on October 9, 2026.
This new chapter will continue the thrilling battles left off in the fourth film. Miho Nishizumi and the Oarai Girls Academy team continue to showcase their strategic genius in the most challenging stages of the tournament. The released teaser visuals show Miho facing off against St. Gloriana Girls College and their iconic Churchill Mk. VII tanks with her Panzer IV Ausf. H. This signals the final match of the Winter Continuous Track Cup tournament. Veteran series director Tsutomu Mizushima returns to the director's chair, while the studio known for its animation quality, Actas, continues to be the power behind the project.
Since the original television series began in 2012, Girls und Panzer has become a massive phenomenon that brings together military history enthusiasts and anime fans. The Das Finale project, which began in 2017, aims to conclude the story in an epic fashion with its originally planned six-film structure. The fourth film of the series was released in late 2023, leaving fans in great suspense. This fifth film will be available with the widest format support in the series' history; in addition to standard screenings, it will be viewable in 4DX, MX4D, Dolby Atmos, and, for the first time in the series, Dolby Cinema options.
For fans, this news means there is only one step left until the series finale. As the pieces fall into place with the fifth film, the stage will be set for the sixth and final film. Furthermore, the presence of side stories such as Motto Love Love Sakusen Desu! and Ribbon no Musha indicates that the Girls und Panzer universe will remain in our lives for a long time to come. If you have missed the roar of tanks and the excitement of strategic maneuvers, it means October is going to be a very busy month for you.
