Akira Ishida and Misato Fukuen Join The Ogre's Bride Anime
The Ogre's Bride adds two more important names to its cast. According to the recent official announcement, veteran voice actors Akira Ishida and Misato Fukuen will voice the mother and father of Reiya Kiryūin in the series. This news has generated great excitement among fans, especially as it promises a deeper look into the character's family background.
Akira Ishida is known for his roles as Kaworu Nagisa in Neon Genesis Evangelion and Gaara in Naruto, while Misato Fukuen has brought to life iconic characters such as Tashigi in One Piece and Rukia Kuchiki in Bleach. The duo has previously delivered successful performances in projects where they coincidentally worked together. The addition of these experienced names to the cast of The Ogre's Bride sends positive signals about the series' production quality.
The story of the series revolves around a young girl named Chiyo living in a mountain village, who is given as a bride to a mysterious ogre as payment for a vow. Based on the manga of the same name by Ryo Sugahara, the work has been serialized on Kodansha's online platform Magazine Pocket since 2020 and has become one of the beloved examples of the fantasy romance genre. The anime adaptation is planned to air in the fall of 2026. The director's chair is held by Yūta Murano, who previously gained attention with Kakushigoto.
In the previously announced main cast, Aoi Koga, known for her performance in Kaguya-sama: Love is War, will voice the main character Chiyo, and Yūichi Nakamura from Jujutsu Kaisen will voice the ogre prince Kotarō. It is not yet clear what role Reiya Kiryūin's parents will play in the story, but given Ishida and Fukuen's experience, they are sure to add depth to the scenes.
