AnimeJapan 2026: Fans Want Urban Myth Dissolution Center to Become an Anime!

One of the most prestigious events in the anime world, AnimeJapan 2026, has once again made the fans' voices heard. At the event held at Tokyo Big Sight, the results of the "Indie Games We Want to See Animated" poll, held for the first time this year, were announced. Topping the list was Urban Myth Dissolution Center (Toshi Densetsu Kaitai Center), which draws attention with its mysterious atmosphere and immersive story.
Developed by Hakaba Bunko and published by Shueisha Games, Urban Myth Dissolution Center pulls players into a center that investigates urban legends. Our main character, Azami Fukurai, uses her psychic abilities to uncover the truth behind the terrifying rumors circulating on the internet. The game's unique pixel art and critiques of modern society make it a perfect candidate for an anime series. The fact that it has the backing of a giant name like Shueisha significantly increases the project's chances of being adapted into an anime.
In the poll, Urban Myth Dissolution Center was followed by Izon, known for its psychological depth, and Azure Striker Gunvolt (Armed Blue Gunvolt), known for its action-packed gameplay. While Izon, developed by Creek & River, focuses on the emotional bond between two characters with the powers of destruction and creation, Azure Striker Gunvolt, signed by Inti Creates, proved how eager fans are for a long-running television series, despite already having an OVA.
Such polls often serve as a roadmap for industry professionals. In the past, we have seen works that topped the "Manga We Want to See Animated" list, such as Solo Leveling, The Dangers in My Heart, and The Apothecary Diaries, receive anime adaptations in a short time. This new poll in the indie game category shows that the strong storytelling in the indie game world is now being seen as a serious resource by the anime industry.
Although there has been no official anime announcement yet, the popularity gained by Urban Myth Dissolution Center will surely whet the appetite of production studios. Fans are already excited to see the adventures of Azami and the mysterious director Ayumu Meguriya on screen. It would not be surprising at all to hear an official announcement for one of the works on this list in the coming months.
