Bad News for Those Awaiting a Second Season of Apocalypse Hotel: Statement from the Producer

For fans of the Apocalypse Hotel series, brought to life by Cygames Pictures and noted for its unique world, the expected news is unfortunately not very encouraging. In an interview, the studio's producer officially announced that they have no plans for a continuation of the series in the near future. The producer stated that although the animators at the studio feel great excitement about continuing the project, there is currently no sequel season in development.
Apocalypse Hotel brought a fresh breath of air to the anime world with its interesting theme set in a post-apocalyptic world where a hotel is used as a shelter. Cygames Pictures, the in-house studio of Cygames, is a name that has proven its quality with projects such as Princess Connect! Re:Dive and Uma Musume Pretty Derby: Road to the Top. As it is an original production, the direction the story might take was a subject of curiosity, but this statement has put those expectations on hold for the time being.
The producer also shared an important detail regarding the studio's working atmosphere: "Young people coming to Cygames Pictures look at me with a sparkle in their eyes and say, 'This is a company that constantly produces original content.'" This statement shows how attractive the studio is for new talent entering the industry. While the animators' desire to continue projects like Apocalypse Hotel reveals the passion behind the scenes, commercial and planning processes currently point in a different direction.
In the anime industry, original productions receiving a sequel season usually depend on Blu-ray sales, viewership rates on streaming platforms, and the success of merchandise. The doors are not completely closed for Apocalypse Hotel; as the producer's willingness could open the door to a surprise in the future. For now, all fans can do is follow the studio's other projects and hope that this unique universe returns one day.
