Aria the Scarlet Ammo Celebrates Its 15th Anniversary with a New Short Anime

Greetings Butei candidates! Today, as the calendar marks April 15, 2026, it has been exactly 15 years since Aria, one of the fiercest detectives in the anime world, first stepped onto the screen. Not letting this special day pass by, Kadokawa has announced that a brand-new short anime project is on the way for the Aria the Scarlet Ammo (Hidan no Aria) series. Moreover, the celebrations don't stop there; Japan's giant platform ABEMA is launching a massive marathon broadcast covering all episodes of the series for those who want to indulge in some nostalgia.
So, why is this series so important? The light novel series, which Chūgaku Akamatsu started in 2008, is a giant that has surpassed 44 main volumes and reached sales figures of over 9 million today. The first anime, which came to life in the hands of the J.C.Staff studio in 2011, captured hearts with the character Aria H. Kanzaki during the golden age of 'tsundere' characters. With the Aria the Scarlet Ammo AA spin-off that arrived in 2015, we also saw how much the universe could expand.
For those who don't remember the story or are just starting, let's give a brief summary: Everything begins at Tokyo Butei High School, where armed detectives are trained. Kinji Tohyama, who wants an ordinary life but carries a wild ability like 'Hysteria Mode' in his genes, finds himself in an endless action when he meets Aria, a descendant of the legendary detective Sherlock Holmes. The dynamic between this duo is the greatest strength that has kept the series alive in both the manga and anime worlds for years.
Although technical details about the new short anime project (such as the studio or exact release date) are still being kept secret, this move in honor of the 15th anniversary has excited fans quite a bit. In particular, whether the legendary Rie Kugimiya, who voices Aria, will be involved in this project is one of the most curious topics. It seems that the adventure in the Butei world is not over yet. We will keep our eyes and ears open for new announcements coming in the following weeks!
