Attack on Titan: Brave Order Mobile Game Shuts Down on September 28
The end of the road is in sight for Attack on Titan: Brave Order. It has been officially announced that the cooperative smartphone game developed and published by Enish will completely end its service on September 28, 2026. In the announcement made via the game's official X (formerly Twitter) account and in-game notices, it was also stated that sales of the paid currency, Crystal, were halted as of August 28.
The game was first released in Japan in February 2022 for iOS and Android. Brave Order stood out as a cooperative RPG adapted from the original Hajime Isayama manga. Players could join the Survey Corps alongside beloved characters such as Eren Yeager, Mikasa Ackerman, and Levi Ackerman, embark on multiplayer missions against Titans, and soar through the sky using the series' signature 3D Maneuver Gear. In addition to following the main story, the game also drew attention with original story chapters exclusive to the game and voiced events.
Although the shutdown decision may come as a surprise to Attack on Titan fans, it is not very surprising for the mobile gaming industry. A service life of approximately 4.5 years can actually be considered above average for licensed anime mobile games. However, in recent years, many "gacha" and live-service games in Japan have similarly ended their services due to rising development costs and player competition. Even though Brave Order regularly received new characters, costumes, and seasonal events since its launch, it appears to have struggled to maintain its player base in the long term.
This closure comes after the completion of the main story of the Attack on Titan series. The manga, serialized by Hajime Isayama in Bessatsu Shonen Magazine between 2009 and 2021, was completed in 34 volumes, while the anime adaptation by WIT Studio and later MAPPA ended with its final episodes released in November 2023. Although the series' main story has concluded, the franchise continues to live on through mobile games, pachinko, and upcoming new projects. Enish, the developer of Brave Order, announced that it will publish the schedule of planned events until the end of service and will announce the refund procedure for unused paid Crystals through its official website. Players are advised to complete story missions and save their favorite memories by September 28.
