Azur Lane: Slow Ahead! Season 2 Release Date Announced: New Trailer and Characters Revealed

The cutest warriors of the seas are returning! The long-awaited date for the second season of the fun spin-off anime of the popular mobile game, Azur Lane: Slow Ahead! (Azur Lane: Bisoku Zenshin!), has finally been announced. With the release of the second main promotional video, it has been confirmed that the new season, titled Azur Lane: Slow Ahead! Ni!!, will premiere in Japan on July 5, 2026. The series will meet audiences on the TOKYO MX and BS11 channels.
The new trailer not only announces the release date but also introduces six new ship girls who will join the series for the first time. There are exciting developments on the music front as well; it has been confirmed that the famous artist Miyuki Hashimoto will perform a new theme song for the series, while the trailer also features snippets of the song 'Shaisuma—!' by Yui Sakakibara. This season will continue from where the first season left off, deepening the social life at the port with more characters and more joy.
Adapted from the popular four-panel manga drawn by Hori and serialized in Manga 4-Koma Palette magazine, the series focuses entirely on the 'slice-of-life' genre, unlike the main Azur Lane story. The production, whose first season aired in 2021, tells the daily, funny, and sometimes chaotic lives of the starting quartet consisting of Javelin, Laffey, Ayanami, and Z23 at the port. In the second season, Shunji Maki takes the director's chair, while animation production is now handled entirely by the CANDY BOX studio; Yostar Pictures, which was involved in the first season, is not in the production staff this time.
The Azur Lane universe has become a massive franchise since its launch in 2017. For fans, this spin-off series is of great importance as it offers the opportunity to see their favorite characters' special in-game skins in animation format, beyond war and strategy. With the original voice cast including Nozomi Yamane, Yo Taichi, and Maria Naganawa returning in full, this new season is a candidate to be one of the most cheerful productions of the summer season. If you have missed the peaceful yet lively days at the port, don't forget to mark your calendars for July 5th!
