Bandai Namco Announces 'Tekken! Cartoon' Project: Trailer Released

Bandai Namco is adding a new ring to the multimedia world of the fighting game series Tekken. The company officially announced the animation project titled 'Tekken! Cartoon' and released its first trailer. The trailer also features live-action footage of famous Japanese actor Tsubasa Tobinaga.
Announced on June 26, 2026, the project takes Tekken's long-standing storytelling tradition into a new format. The trailer combines an animation style that pays tribute to the classic with real human performances. Although Tsubasa Tobinaga's role in the project has not yet been clarified, given the actor's past martial arts and action experience, he is expected to portray one of the main characters.
The Tekken series has produced many animation adaptations since its first arcade game in 1994. Tekken: Blood Vengeance (2011) movie, Tekken: Bloodline (2022) Netflix series, and most recently the release of Tekken 8 (2024), the brand has continuously grown. The new 'Cartoon' project promises a lighter, more humorous tone - as its name suggests, approaching a classic cartoon format. Bandai Namco's move signals a strategy targeting especially younger audiences and families.
Details such as when the project will be released, on which platform, or the number of episodes have not been announced yet. However, the 'Coming Soon' note at the end of the trailer indicates that the announcement will expand with more information in the coming months. While Tekken fans are excited about the series returning with a new animation, they are eagerly waiting to see how the live-action and animation hybrid will turn out.
Bandai Namco seems determined to enrich the Tekken universe not only with games but also with different media. Such projects increase the brand's cultural impact while making it easier for new fans to step into the series. Official announcements in the coming days will provide clearer information about the project's scope and release schedule.
