According to Anime News Network, Ayataka Tanemura, who directed the first season's 170 episodes and the 2023 film Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King, will also serve as director for this new season. This decision means that the story will continue from where it left off after the series' approximately five-year hiatus.

Adapted from Yūki Tabata's manga of the same name, Black Clover first aired in 2017 and quickly became a global phenomenon with its story set in a world centered on magic.
