Hello anime fans! We finally have exciting news regarding the long-awaited BLACK TORCH anime that will surely delight the cast. The anime adaptation of the manga, written by Tsuyoshi Takaki and known for its iconic visual style, has raised expectations to a new level by adding some of the most experienced names in the industry to its voice cast. According to the official announcement, Shinpachi Tsuji, Yuko Kaida, and the legendary voice actor Hochu Otsuka have joined the project.
According to the newly revealed details, these master actors will bring key characters to life. Shinpachi Tsuji will voice Toshimasa Azuma, the tough but wise grandfather of our main character Jiro. Yuko Kaida will appear as Toko Kusumi, an important figure from the Bureau of Espionage, while Hochu Otsuka, known for iconic roles such as Jiraiya (Naruto), will lend his voice to the character Banjuro Tokieda. The addition of these names is seen as a testament to how much importance the production places on character depth.
So, why is BLACK TORCH so important? Although the manga, which was published in Jump SQ magazine between 2016 and 2018, lasted only 5 volumes, it gained a worldwide fanbase, especially with its sharp and dynamic art style reminiscent of Tite Kubo (Bleach). The story follows Jiro Azuma, a descendant of a ninja lineage who can talk to animals, as he encounters Rago, a black cat who is a wounded mononoke (supernatural being). The adventure that begins when the duo merges into a single body to survive drags them into the dark world of the Bureau of Espionage, a secret government organization.
