Release Date Announced for Black Torch Anime: Major Names Join the Cast
The news that Black Torch fans have been eagerly awaiting has finally been confirmed! Tsuyoshi Takaki’s highly acclaimed manga is preparing to take its place on television screens on July 4, 2026. With the latest official announcement, it was revealed that two experienced names in the anime world, Nobuhiko Okamoto and Toshiyuki Morikawa, have joined the series' voice cast. This development seems set to take both the action dosage and character depth of the series to the next level.
The series centers on the story of Jiro Azuma, a young man descended from ninjas who possesses the ability to talk to animals. Jiro's life changes irrevocably when his path crosses with Rago, a black cat he finds injured in the forest, who is actually a very powerful "mononoke" (supernatural being). Black Torch won the hearts of readers by blending supernatural powers, secret government organizations, and ninja aesthetics in a modern world. In particular, the forced partnership between Jiro and Rago stands out as one of the most compelling dynamics of the series.
Written by mangaka Tsuyoshi Takaki, the work first began publication in Shueisha's Jump SQ magazine in 2016, and later continued on the Shonen Jump+ platform.
