BLADE & BASTARD Anime Coming in 2027: New Dark Fantasy from Goblin Slayer Author

BLADE & BASTARD fans have exciting news: Goblin Slayer author Kumo Kagyu's light novel series of the same name will be coming to screens in 2027 as an anime exclusive to the HIDIVE platform. The publisher announced that it has acquired the rights to the production and shared the first trailer and main staff members along with the announcement.

Kumo Kagyu made a name for himself in the dark fantasy genre with Goblin Slayer, and with BLADE & BASTARD, he created a universe full of dungeon exploration and monsters, incorporating many RPG elements. The series depicts the survival struggle of a group of adventurers as they enter dangerous dungeons. The original work started as a web novel penned by Kagyu and was later published in light novel format.

The main cast of the anime has been announced for now. However, which studio will handle the production and the voice cast have not yet been announced. While the trailer draws attention with its dark atmosphere and action-packed scenes, HIDIVE's investment in such productions is seen as part of the platform's strategy to expand its library. HIDIVE had previously added popular titles like Made in Abyss and Oshi no Ko to its catalog.
