"Borrowed Magic Repaid in Installments" Anime Starts in October: Main Cast and First Trailer Released

Another eagerly awaited adaptation for manga fans is coming: the anime adaptation of the comedy-fantasy series "Borrowed Magic Repaid in Installments" (Japanese: Kashita Maryoku wa Ribobarai de Kyōsei Chōshū) will be on TV screens in October 2025. The first trailer and main voice cast were recently announced via Japanese anime news site Natalie. The series stars Kawashima Reiji, previously heard in productions like "MASHLE" and "Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute!".
The story revolves around a character who lends his magic power to someone but cannot get it back. The struggle to reclaim the borrowed magic in installments leads to both comedic and action-packed moments. The manga has been serialized since 2021 in Shōnen Gangan magazine by the duo Masa-Kichi (story) and Iijima Shingo (art). Although there is no licensed edition in Turkey yet, its readership is rapidly growing on online platforms.
Although the production studio has not been finalized yet, the animation quality noticeable in the first trailer indicates that the series is ambitious in terms of budget and production. The names of other voice actors besides Kawashima Reiji in the main cast will be announced in the coming weeks. Also, no information has been shared yet about the series' opening and ending music. The magic scenes and character designs we saw in the trailer appear to be faithful to the manga.
This adaptation stands out as one of the rare works that humorously handles the themes of "lending" and "debt". In recent years, productions combining comedy and dark fantasy genres have attracted viewers' interest. If you like series such as "Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo!" or "The Rising of the Shield Hero", this anime deserves a spot on your list. The exact number of episodes and streaming platform for the series starting in October are not yet clear, but it is expected to appear on global platforms such as Crunchyroll or Netflix.
