Bungo Stray Dogs WAN! Season 2 is Coming: July 2026 Date and New Visual Released

The long-awaited news for Bungo Stray Dogs fans has finally arrived! The series' beloved comedy-focused spin-off, Bungo Stray Dogs WAN!, has officially been renewed for a second season, and its release date has been confirmed. According to the official announcement, the new season, where we will watch the characters in their famous "chibi" forms, will meet viewers in July 2026. In the key visual shared alongside the announcement, we get the chance to see both our old friends and new characters joining the series in this adorable art style.
The production team behind the new season largely remains the same. As in the first season, animation production will again be carried out in partnership with Studio Bones and Nomad. Toshihiro Kikuchi sits in the director's chair, while Hiromi Daimi handles character designs. The most notable change this season is on the script side; the series composition has been entrusted to Toko Machida this time. In the music department, we will once again hear the signature of legendary composer Taku Iwasaki.
Unlike the main series written by Kafka Asagiri and illustrated by Sango Harukawa, Bungo Stray Dogs WAN! has a much lighter and humorous tone. Based on Neco Kanai's spin-off manga, which has been ongoing since 2015, this production sets aside the conflicts on the dangerous streets of Yokohama and focuses on the absurd moments in the characters' daily lives. The series, whose first season aired in 2021, serves as a breath of fresh air for fans overwhelmed by the dark atmosphere of the main story.
Clues about what awaits us in the second season are also hidden in the visual. The newly shared image features not only members of the Armed Detective Agency and the Port Mafia, but also members of the Guild, Hunting Dogs, and Decay of the Angel groups that appeared in the later seasons of the main series. This means we will also witness the funny and cute versions of characters like Fukuchi, Nikolai, and Sigma. Although there is a long way to go until July 2026, it is hard not to be excited about this "wan"-derful return already!
