Captain Tsubasa 2: World Fighters Release Date Announced: The Legend Returns to the Pitch!

One of the most iconic characters in the football world, Tsubasa Ozora, is returning to the gaming world with an exciting announcement. Publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment has officially announced that the new installment in the series, Captain Tsubasa 2: World Fighters, will be released on August 28, 2026. Developed by Tamsoft, the title will meet players on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC (Steam) platforms.
As a direct sequel to the highly acclaimed 2020 game Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions, this new title centers its story on the fan-favorite World Youth arc. Players will navigate through qualifiers with the Japan national team against tough opponents like Thailand, Saudi Arabia, and China, before stepping onto the world stage featuring giants such as Brazil, Argentina, and Sweden. The game will include 22 different national teams, over 110 playable characters, and more than 150 special animated shots and moves.
Series creator Yoichi Takahashi announced last April that he was ending his 43-year manga career due to health issues. However, the master creator is providing comfort to fans by personally overseeing the expanded scenario of this new game. Captain Tsubasa 2: World Fighters will not only follow the existing story but will also offer a personalized experience with the New Stars Route mode, where players can create their own characters and join the Japan national team.
