Cardcaptor Sakura: New Smartphone Game 'Omoide no Kagi' Releases on June 25

Cardcaptor Sakura series is stepping into the mobile gaming world. According to Anime News Network, a new smartphone game called Cardcaptor Sakura: Omoide no Kagi (Key of Memories) will be released on June 25. The game allows players to collect digital characters and arrange them in room dioramas.
Players can collect characters like the series' iconic heroine Sakura Kinomoto, her best friend Tomoyo Daidouji, and the mysterious Syaoran Li to create their own personal collections. The core mechanic of the game is based on placing characters in cute rooms and decorating them. This type of collection and decoration game became popular especially with titles like Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp. Cardcaptor Sakura: Omoide no Kagi joins this trend while preserving the nostalgic atmosphere of the series.
Cardcaptor Sakura is known as a classic shoujo manga series created by CLAMP and published between 1996 and 2000. The series later reached a large fan base with a 70-episode anime, two movies, and the 2018 sequel series Clear Card. Although various card games and console games have been released over the years, such a comprehensive collection game on mobile platforms is seen for the first time. The word "Kagi" (key) in the game's title references the keys, one of the main story elements of the series.
Currently, there is no clear information about the game's price or in-app purchases. However, similar types of games are usually free to download and include in-app purchases. It has not yet been confirmed whether Cardcaptor Sakura: Omoide no Kagi will be released globally or only in Japan for iOS and Android on June 25. Fans should follow official announcements.
