Cardfight!! Vanguard Celebrates 15th Anniversary: New Anime and DivineZ Final Movie Announced for 2027

Bushiroad has delivered a double announcement that will excite fans of the beloved Cardfight!! Vanguard series. As part of the series' 15th-anniversary celebrations, it has been officially announced that an all-new TV anime will premiere in 2027. However, before this distant announcement, it was revealed that the current story arc, the DivineZ saga, will have a grand finale in theaters.
The new feature film, titled Cardfight!! Vanguard DivineZ: Unmei Seisen-hen (The Fated Clash), will be released in theaters in Japan on October 2, 2026. This film will bring the DivineZ saga, starring Akina Myodo, to its conclusion. Representing the climax of the great struggle between the "Fated Ones" and the "Destined Ones," this production will be one of the most important installments in the series' "D" era, a period where character designs were created by the famous artist group CLAMP.
Launched in 2011 by Akira Ito and Bushiroad president Takaaki Kidani, the franchise has reached a massive global community over the past 15 years. The 15th-anniversary celebrations are not limited to new announcements; a special anniversary video produced by studio MAPPA and featuring music by the band Roselia has also been released for fans to enjoy. Additionally, for those who want to return to the roots of the series, the first episodes of the original 2011 series are being re-released in a restored format.
So, what will the new series in 2027 bring? Although details are still being kept under wraps, Bushiroad's description of this project as a "completely new beginning" suggests that a new era is about to open for the series. Cardfight!! Vanguard has carved out a unique place in the anime world, not just as a card game, but with its deep story built on friendship and strategy. Following the grand finale in October, fans are hoping to see more clues about the future of the series during this new wait leading up to 2027.
