Chainsaw Man – Reze Arc Film Comes to Prime Video in Japan on September 19
A new promotional visual has been released for Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc. The visual confirms that the film will also be released on Prime Video in Japan on September 19, 2025. Thus, the digital release date of the highly anticipated Reze Arc adaptation has been officially announced.
The film adapts Reze Arc (the Bomb Girl arc), one of the most beloved stories from Tatsuki Fujimoto's manga. Serving as a continuation of the anime series released under the MAPPA banner in 2022, the production centers on the relationship between Denji and Reze and Reze's devil identity. The first season brought the manga up to the Katana Man arc; this film will tell one of the story's most talked-about chapters on a cinematic scale.
A strong team is behind the project. Tatsuya Yoshihara, known for works such as Black Clover and Mashle, sits in the director's chair. Hiroshi Seko, who also wrote the anime series, handles the screenplay; Kazutaka Sugiyama handles character design; and Kensuke Ushio handles the music. Yoshihara, who replaced Ryū Nakayama, who directed the first season of the series, is known for his success in action scenes.
The film was announced at the Jump Festa 2024 event in December 2023. Since then, fans have continued to get excited with both new visuals and trailers. With Prime Video being the digital home of the anime series in Japan, the film's release on the same platform becomes a natural step. International screening and release plans are not yet fully clarified.
Adapting Reze Arc as a film is a great opportunity to present the story with a cinematic narrative. Especially Reze's explosive powers and the emotional tension between her and Denji could be much more impressive on the big screen.
