Unexpected Change in Chainsaw Man Stage Play: New Chainsaw Man Announced!

A surprising change has occurred in the stage adaptation of Tatsuki Fujimoto's global phenomenon Chainsaw Man. Yutaka Nakasone, who was scheduled to portray the transformed form of the lead character, Chainsaw Man, in the upcoming Chainsaw Man The Stage: Reze Arc play, has been forced to withdraw from the project due to health issues. In an official statement released by the production team, it was noted that Nakasone needs time to rest, and it was announced that young talent Taisei Nakamoto will take over the role and perform in all scheduled shows.
This significant change comes shortly before the stage adaptation of the "Reze Arc" (also known as the Bomb Girl Arc), one of the most emotional and action-packed parts of the series. This arc, which focuses on Denji's tragic love story and his relentless battle against the Bomb Devil, previously took theaters by storm with the Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc film released in September 2025. The stage play will meet audiences at the Tennozu Galaxy Theater in Tokyo from July 25 to August 2, 2026, and subsequently in Kyoto from August 7 to 12.
The series' stage journey actually began with the first play in 2023, which achieved great success. In the new production, names such as Naotake Tsuchiya in the role of Denji and legendary voice actress Aya Hirano in the role of Makima continue to reprise their roles. Fumiya Matsuzaki remains in the director's chair, while the music is composed by Shunsuke Wada. Following the conclusion of the second part of the Chainsaw Man manga in March 2026, this stage play serves as a significant event for fans.
