Clevatess II: The Beast King and the False Hero Legend Returns with First Episode Trailer and Visuals
One of the most remarkable productions in the dark fantasy genre in recent years, Clevatess - The Beast King and the False Hero Legend (Clevatess: Majū no Ō to Itsuwari no Yūsha Denshō), is preparing to greet its fans with its second season. Scene snippets from the first episode of the series' new era, titled Clevatess II, and a special web teaser video have been shared through official channels. In the new visuals, the arrival of our main characters Klen and Alicia at the mysterious Solsein Magic Academy and the new characters they will encounter there are showcased in detail for the first time.
The series' creator Yuji Iwahara is a master known for cult works in the anime world such as Dimension W and King of Thorn, as well as the iconic character designs for the Darker than Black series. The story of Clevatess follows Clevatess, a Demon King who hates humanity and has sworn to destroy them, taking in a baby (Luna) he found by chance after razing a kingdom. Deciding to raise this baby to see if humanity truly deserves to be destroyed, the Demon King embarks on an unusual journey by resurrecting Alicia, one of the heroes he killed, to act as a caretaker.
On the production side, Studio Lay-duce (O Maidens in Your Savage Season, Tomo-chan Is a Girl!) maintains its seat, guaranteeing quality. Director Kiyotaka Taguchi and screenwriter Keigo Koyanagi will bring the Solsein arc to the screen in the second season, which will take the story to a more political and action-packed dimension. In the voice cast, Yuichi Nakamura brings the Demon King's majestic form to life, while Mutsumi Tamura voices the human-form character Klen. New names such as Shuichiro Umeda (Rei) and Yurina Kikuchi (Mary Mary) are also joining the cast this season.
Clevatess II will begin airing in Japan on July 8, 2026, and will meet viewers simultaneously on Crunchyroll. The ending theme of the new season is performed by the popular group MYTH & ROID with their song "Awake Anew." The dramatic atmosphere established in the first season is expected to take on a much darker tone in these new episodes with the war between false heroes and real monsters.
