CloverWorks Announces The Case Files of Biblia Bookstore Anime Adaptation: Coming in 2027!

The popular series that unlocks the mysterious doors of the literary world, The Case Files of Biblia Bookstore (Biblia Koshodou no Jiken Techou), is finally stepping into the anime world. Renowned animation studio CloverWorks has officially announced the anime adaptation of the series, sharing the first teaser trailer and visual that have excited fans. According to the announcement, this highly anticipated production will meet audiences in 2027.
Written by En Mikami and originally a light novel series, the story is set in an old bookstore in Kamakura. The plot revolves around Shiori Shinokawa, the socially shy bookstore owner who possesses deep knowledge of books and incredible intuition, and her assistant Daisuke Goura, who gets dizzy whenever he tries to read a book. The duo invites viewers on a literary detective adventure by solving the secrets behind the rare books brought to the shop and the mysterious lives of their owners.
This announcement holds great significance for the series' loyal fanbase. The Case Files of Biblia Bookstore, which began publication in 2011 and has sold over 7 million copies in Japan, was previously adapted into a live-action series in 2013 and a feature film in 2018. However, fans have been waiting for years for an anime adaptation that would capture the aesthetic world of the series. The fact that CloverWorks, the studio behind visually striking productions like Spy x Family, Bocchi the Rock!, and My Dress-Up Darling, is taking on this project has already raised expectations to the peak.
Blending the rare theme of "bibliophilia" (love of books) with the mystery genre in the anime world, this production aims to appeal not only to anime fans but also to those interested in world literature. Details such as the voice cast (seiyuu) and who will sit in the director's chair are expected to be clarified in the period leading up to 2027. It is hard not to be excited already for this quiet yet deep mystery journey through the dusty pages of books.
