Crunchyroll Adds Special OAD Episodes of Kamisama Kiss

Crunchyroll has started publishing the special OAD (Original Animation DVD) episodes of the popular shoujo anime Kamisama Kiss, which previously only came with manga volumes. Announced on July 24, 2026, this development has been a long-awaited step for the series' loyal fans. The OADs were offered as additions to volumes 22 through 25.5 of the manga and had been inaccessible to those without physical copies until now.
Kamisama Kiss is a manga series written and illustrated by Julietta Suzuki, published in Hakusensha's Hana to Yume magazine from 2008 to 2016. The anime adaptation was produced by TMS Entertainment; the first season aired in 2012, and the second season in 2015. The series tells a sweet and comedic story about high school student Nanami Momozono, who becomes a goddess overnight, and the fox spirit Tomoe. The special OAD episodes contain side stories and character developments that were in the manga but not included in the anime.
Crunchyroll's move is a great opportunity especially for fans who want to complete the series but cannot obtain the now out-of-print manga volumes. Previously, these OADs only came with limited edition volumes printed in Japan and were not available on digital platforms. By adding this content to its catalog, Crunchyroll provides nostalgia for old fans and allows new viewers to experience the series more completely.
This release decision can be seen as part of Crunchyroll's strategy in recent years to bring old anime content that remained in physical releases to its digital platform. The platform, which previously added special episodes to shoujo classics such as Ouran High School Host Club and Fruits Basket, plays an important role in anime archiving. Kamisama Kiss fans can start watching these four special episodes now; we hope that more such surprises follow in the future.
