New Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 Character Roman Carax Introduced: A Cinephile in Night City
Great news for fans counting down the days to return to the neon-lit, ruthless streets of Night City! Character reveals for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, prepared in collaboration between Studio Trigger and CD Projekt Red, are in full swing. The third name to join the series' highly anticipated new crew is Roman Carax, described as a "young cinephile in pursuit of real stories." The announcement made on June 27, 2026, created a huge wave of excitement among fans of the series.
Roman Carax stands out with his passion for traditional cinema at a time when Night City has surrendered to braindance (BD) technology. According to official statements, Roman is a character obsessed with documenting reality rather than the city's fake glitz. Described as a "witness to the cost of every job, every fall, and every legend," it is a matter of curiosity what kind of chemistry this young man will have with the other members of the crew. Following the veteran Edgerunner Weak Kingsley and the revenge-seeking netrunner D, who were introduced before Roman, the new cast was completed with the announcement of the final member, Talia Yang.
This new season will not be a direct sequel to the first series that took the world by storm in 2022; instead, it will present a 10-episode standalone story set in Night City. Kai Ikarashi, known for his successful work in the first season, sits in the director's chair, while the script is once again penned by Bartosz Sztybor and Masahiko Otsuka. As will be remembered, the first season brought the popularity of the Cyberpunk 2077 game back to its peak and collected "Anime of the Year" awards on many platforms. The producers describe this new story as a "raw chronicle of redemption and revenge."
