Cyborg 009: Nemesis to Be Released Online on July 19
The modern continuation of the classic science fiction manga, Cyborg 009: Nemesis, has finally received a release date. According to Anime News Network, the series will premiere on online platforms on July 19, 2026 (a major service like Netflix or Crunchyroll is expected). A brand new key visual was also shared with the announcement.
As a reminder: The original Cyborg 009 was a legendary manga started by Shotaro Ishinomori in 1964. The stories of the team of nine different cybernetic super soldiers have been adapted into many anime, films, and OVAs before. Nemesis is introduced as a new branch of the series adapted to the present day. The project was first announced at the end of 2024, but the production process was prolonged.
In the new key visual, the modernized designs of the characters and a dark atmosphere stand out. Alongside the warriors in the visual, the silhouette of the series' villain, Nemesis, is also noticeable. For now, details such as the voice cast or episode count have not been announced; however, fans predict that the production will offer a more adult narrative while preserving the spirit of the original manga.
So why is this news important? Cyborg 009 had gained a huge cult status, especially in the early 2000s. After Ishinomori's death, the series lay dormant for a while, but in recent years, revival efforts have accelerated. Nemesis is seen as the most concrete step in this rebirth.
