Special Collaboration for Detective Conan's 29th Film "Highway no Datenshi": Chihaya and Masumi to Grace the Cover of anan Magazine!

Exciting news for fans of the beloved anime and manga series Detective Conan (Meitantei Conan)! Promotional efforts are in full swing for the series' 29th feature film, Detective Conan: Highway no Datenshi (Fallen Angel of the Highway), which is scheduled to hit theaters in Japan on April 10, 2026. As part of this, anan, one of Japan's most popular women's magazines, is preparing a special cover feature for its 2492nd issue, releasing on April 15. The front cover will feature the star of the Kanagawa Prefectural Police, Chihaya Hagiwara, and high school detective Masumi Sera, while the back cover will be dedicated to the duo of Kenji Hagiwara and Jinpei Matsuda, who hold a significant place in the series' emotional history.
The new film, Highway no Datenshi, shifts its focus to the Kanagawa Prefectural Police and specifically to the leader of the motorcycle unit, Chihaya Hagiwara. In the first visuals designed by series creator Gosho Aoyama, Chihaya is seen speeding on a police motorcycle with Conan Edogawa. It is noted that the film's story will revolve around November 7, the anniversary of the deaths of Chihaya's late brother Kenji and his close friend Matsuda, and will feature a high-paced chase on the highway. Additionally, following the passing of voice actress Atsuko Tanaka last year, the character of Chihaya will now be voiced by the renowned artist Miyuki Sawashiro.
This film holds great importance in terms of character history and the series' chronology. Chihaya Hagiwara was first introduced in the manga with the nickname "Goddess of the Wind" and earned Conan's trust with her sharp intellect. Her brother, Kenji Hagiwara, and his best friend, Jinpei Matsuda, are among the characters from the series' popular side story, the Police Academy Arc. This special issue of anan magazine will both honor these past connections and offer fans a visual feast by bringing together two powerful, motorcycle-loving female characters: Chihaya and Masumi Sera.
The Detective Conan film series has been breaking records at the Japanese box office in recent years. The 27th film, The Million-dollar Pentagram, and the 28th film, One-eyed Flashback, achieved massive success by pushing the 15 billion yen mark. The 29th film, Highway no Datenshi, is expected to achieve similar success. Directed by Takahiro Hasui with a screenplay by Takahiro Okura, the production will meet audiences during the 2026 Golden Week. Fans are eagerly waiting to discover the meaning behind the film's mysterious "Fallen Angel" title through magazine collaborations and released trailers.
