Dragon Quest Smash/Grow Releases on April 21: Trailer by Kamikaze Douga is Live!

Square Enix and KLab Inc. have officially announced that Dragon Quest Smash/Grow, the newest mobile entry in the legendary RPG series, will launch worldwide for iOS and Android platforms on April 21, 2026. This exciting news is accompanied by a spectacular opening trailer created by the renowned animation studio Kamikaze Douga, known for their iconic opening sequences for the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure series. The game aims to appeal to both long-time fans and new players by blending the series' classic atmosphere with modern "roguelite" mechanics.
Dragon Quest Smash/Grow invites players on an action-packed adventure against massive hordes of monsters. Thanks to random upgrade options called "Blessings," every run will offer a unique experience. As stated in Square Enix's official announcement, players will "slash through hordes of monsters and blow them away with the signature Dragon Quest attack, Coup de Grâce." Additionally, we will be accompanied by our mechanical friend Roly, voiced by the legendary voice actor Toshio Furukawa. The game also features a classic vocation system including warrior, mage, and thief, along with support for co-op play for up to four players.
Kamikaze Douga, the visual force behind this project, has delivered a dynamic trailer that captures the spirit of the series. Since its debut in 1986, the Dragon Quest series has been a pioneer of the JRPG genre, thanks to the creativity of Yuji Horii and the unforgettable designs of the late Akira Toriyama. Smash/Grow combines this legacy with the accessibility of mobile devices, adding a new chapter to the series' massive history, which has sold over 97 million units worldwide. Given the recent popularity of the roguelite genre, Square Enix's decision to merge it with the Dragon Quest universe has sparked great curiosity among fans.
Players who pre-register via the App Store and Google Play now will receive 10 "Premium Transmuter" draw tickets at launch. These rewards will give players an advantage in equipment and character progression from the start. If you want to put your own strategy to the test in this world filled with Slimes and Drackies, don't forget to mark April 21 on your calendar. It seems that Dragon Quest Smash/Grow is a strong candidate to be one of the most talked-about titles in the mobile gaming world this year.
