Countdown Begins for Expelled from Paradise Sequel: "Rakuen WEEK" Event Announced

The wait for the sci-fi and mecha enthusiast favorite Expelled from Paradise: Resonance of the Heart (Rakuen Tsuiho: Kokoro no Resonance) is now down to just six months. Toei Animation has launched an extraordinary streaming project called "Rakuen WEEK" to crown this long-awaited anticipation and refresh the fans' memories. We are returning to the roots of the series ahead of the sequel, which is scheduled to hit theaters in Japan on November 13, 2026.
As part of the "Rakuen WEEK" project, the 2014 original Expelled from Paradise film has been divided into six equal parts. These episodes will be streamed for six consecutive days each month until the release of the new film. With this strategy, the producers aim to keep the excitement of long-time fans alive while offering new viewers the chance to digest the story. The original film followed agent Angela Balzac as she pursued a mysterious hacker on the surface of Earth in a dystopian future where humanity has uploaded their minds to a digital world called DEVA.
The names behind the series are one of the biggest factors that make the project so special in the anime world. The first film's director Seiji Mizushima (Fullmetal Alchemist) and legendary screenwriter Gen Urobuchi (Madoka Magica, Psycho-Pass) are at the helm for the sequel as well. The 2014 original made a huge splash with its 3D CG animation quality, which was considered revolutionary at the time, and drew attention at the Japan Academy Film Prize. Masatsugu Saito returns with character designs and NARASAKI returns with the iconic music for the new film.
New names joining the cast for the sequel are also building excitement. Ayane Sakura (Gabriel), Saori H
