Duck King Trailer by Masami Obari Released for Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves

Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves continues to expand its roster. A new animated trailer prepared by legendary animator Masami Obari has been released for the game developed by SNK. The star of the trailer was the DLC character Duck King, who was added to the game on Thursday, August 28.
The released trailer once again showcases Obari's signature dynamic and fluid action choreography. The animation, which highlights Duck King's fighting style blended with iconic dance moves and his cheerful personality, quickly garnered great appreciation from fans. This collaboration is not a coincidence; Masami Obari played key roles in Fatal Fury: The Motion Picture and other Fatal Fury anime adaptations released in the 90s, and was instrumental in shaping the series' anime identity.
Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves was released on April 24, 2025, for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam / Epic Games Store) as the first mainline game in the series after 26 years. The game, a direct sequel to Garou: Mark of the Wolves (1999), stands out with its story set in South Town, revamped REV System mechanics, and a roster that brings together both classic and new characters. Since its release, the game has continued to receive new characters regularly under Season Pass 1.
Duck King is one of the series' most beloved and oldest characters. First appearing in the original Fatal Fury: King of Fighters game from 1991, Duck King is known for his DJ and dancer identity, distinctive outfit, and capoeira-inspired fighting style. After a long absence, the character has returned with a modern interpretation in City of the Wolves. Duck King was added to the game as part of Season Pass 1; previous characters in the pass include Andy Bogard and guest characters Ken Masters and Chun-Li from the Street Fighter series.
Masami Obari's return holds special meaning for fans. Known for works such as Gravion, Angel Blade, and Bubblegum Crisis, Obari is regarded as one of the most important representatives of the mecha and fighting anime aesthetic of the 80s and 90s. SNK's renewed collaboration with Obari for City of the Wolves is interpreted both as a nostalgic nod and as a tribute to the game's anime roots. Following the Duck King trailer, attention now turns to the remaining characters of Season Pass 1 and SNK's new announcements in the post-EVO period.
