A Nostalgic Breeze in the New Fist of the North Star Anime: Toshl Reinterprets the Legendary Opening Song

One of the most deeply rooted productions in the anime world, Fist of the North Star (Hokuto no Ken), continues to both excite and touch its fans with its new anime adaptation. In the first episodes of the series released on April 11, 2026, a special remix prepared by Toshl, the vocalist of the legendary rock band X Japan, appeared before viewers as the ending theme. This new interpretation of the original series' unforgettable opening song, "Ai o Torimodose!!", carries the legacy of the series into the present day with a modern touch.
Originally performed by Crystal King and etched into memory with the chorus "You wa Shock!", "Ai o Torimodose!!" had become the symbol of the first anime series produced in 1984. This remix, brought back to life with Toshl's powerful vocals, is not just a musical choice but also a tribute to the 40-year history of the series. The track, heard for the first time during Saturday's broadcast, resonated strongly on social media among both long-time fans and those new to the series.
Produced by TMS Entertainment and directed by Hiroshi Maeda, this new adaptation retells Buronson and Tetsuo Hara's cult manga using the latest animation technologies. While Shunsuke Takeuchi voices the lead character Kenshiro, the opening theme features the song "Hallelujah" by the band [Alexandros]. Coordinated by Warner Bros. Japan, this project aims to introduce the legend that began in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1983 to new generations in its most faithful form as part of the 40th-anniversary celebrations.
This musical collaboration is seen as proof that the new series will preserve the original spirit not only visually but also atmospherically. The involvement of a giant name like Toshl in the project also highlights the importance placed on the production quality of the work. Adapted from the manga that has sold over 100 million copies worldwide, the series is available to viewers globally via Prime Video. In this new adventure where Kenshiro challenges his rivals with the "Hokuto Shinken" technique, it seems that nostalgia and modernity will continue to blend.
