Fool Night Anime Adaptation to Hit Netflix in 2026 with SHAFT and Sunrise Collaboration
Long awaited by fans, the anime adaptation of Fool Night has finally been officially announced. The first teaser trailer, promotional visual, and a celebration illustration by mangaka Yasuda Kasumi have been released for the project, which will be co-produced by two of Japan's long-established studios, Sunrise (Bandai Namco Filmworks) and SHAFT. The series will be released exclusively worldwide on Netflix in 2026.
The production is directed by Atsushi Yukawa, with lead roles played by Kouki Uchiyama (as Toshiro Kamiya) and Minako Kotobuki (as Yomiko Horai). Uchiyama is known for his roles as Shouto Todoroki in My Hero Academia and Tobio Kageyama in Haikyuu!!, while Kotobuki is remembered for her performance as Eli Ayase in the Love Live! series. The collaboration between Sunrise and SHAFT on this project has caused a huge stir in the anime industry.
