Frieren Season 3 Main Staff Announced and October 2027 Date Confirmed

Although the second season of Frieren has not yet been released, Madhouse studio is already gearing up for the third season. According to Anime Corner's report, the series' third season will meet the audience in October 2027, and the main staff has been officially confirmed. It appears that an early preparation process has been initiated to meet expectations.
Frieren is based on the popular manga series written by Kanehito Yamada and illustrated by Tsukasa Abe. The first season was highly acclaimed in the fall of 2023, and the second season was announced in 2024. Now, the studio is moving forward with the same creative team for the third season. Keiichirou Saito will be back as director, Tomohiro Suzuki as scriptwriter, and Reiko Nagasawa as character designer. These names are known as the architects of the first season's success.
The new illustration released with the announcement shows Macht, one of the important side characters of the story. Macht is a key figure in the "Golden City" arc and a character greatly anticipated by fans. The illustration reflects the series' melancholic and detailed art style, signaling that the visual quality of the third season will be at least as impressive as the first two seasons.
Although the delay of the third season to 2027 saddens some fans, it's clear that the studio wants to take its time and deliver a quality product. Madhouse has made a name for itself with productions like One Punch Man and Death Note in the past, but has faced criticism in recent years due to production process issues. The Frieren team aims to follow a more planned schedule this time, both to maintain animation quality and to prioritize the health of the staff.
The third season of Frieren will adapt the "Golden City Arc" from the manga. This arc deepens the philosophical conflict between Macht and Frieren, further maturing the series' themes. For now, we have a clear release date: October 2027. Over the next two years, we can expect trailers, new character introductions, and visuals. This announcement shows how large a fanbase the series has and that the studio is operating with a long-term vision.
