New Voice in Ganbare! Nakamura-kun!! Anime: Shoya Chiba Joins the Cast!

As one of the most nostalgic and heartwarming productions of the Spring 2026 anime season, Ganbare! Nakamura-kun!! (Go For It, Nakamura!) is adding a very familiar name to its cast. According to the official announcement, successful voice actor Shoya Chiba, who won hearts with his roles as Shinei Nouzen in 86 and Kiyotaka Ayanokōji in Classroom of the Elite, will join the story starting from the 7th episode of the series.
Shoya Chiba will bring to life the character Arando Tamura, the president of the Hoshimi High School theater and film club. A true art enthusiast with a dramatic personality, Tamura will make his first appearance in the 7th episode, which will air on May 13, 2026. In this episode, Tamura will set his sights on our shy protagonist Okuto Nakamura to be the lead actor while he makes plans to secretly film a horror movie at school at night.
Adapted from Syundei's popular manga series, which was published in Opera magazine between 2014 and 2016, the anime has received great acclaim for presenting the retro aesthetic of the 80s and 90s (in a style reminiscent of Rumiko Takahashi) with a modern touch. Produced by Studio Drive, the series is directed by Aoi Umeki, known for Pop Team Epic. The series follows Nakamura's platonic love for his classmate Aiki Hirose and his clumsy yet sincere efforts along the way.
Recently, fans were saddened when the original creator Syundei closed their social media account due to some controversies. However, the author stated that they are pleased with the anime team's respectful approach to the story and characters, encouraging viewers.
