Glasses with a Chance of Delinquent Anime Adaptation to Air in 2027

Glasses with a Chance of Delinquent (Japanese: Megane, Tokidoki, Yankee-kun) has made headlines with the first teaser visuals and production staff for its TV anime adaptation. According to Anime Corner, the project is officially in production, and the series will be on screen in 2027.
The original manga is by Miki Yoshikawa, the mangaka of popular series such as Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches and Flunk Punk Rumble (Yankee-kun to Megane-chan). In her previous hit Yankee-kun to Megane-chan, Yoshikawa told the story of a girl with glasses and a delinquent boy; in this new series, the formula is essentially reversed. The main character is a calm and polite young man when he wears his glasses; when he takes them off, he appears to those around him as a frightening delinquent.
The story focuses on a sweet and funny high school romance that progresses through this appearance-based confusion. The manga explores relationships between two distinct identities through characters who are "not what they seem," providing readers with warm and entertaining moments. The released teaser visuals also highlight expressions and glasses details that reference this dual nature of the characters.
The announcement of the production team shows that the adaptation is progressing with a concrete plan. The 2027 target is not surprising given the increasing production times in the anime industry, especially for manga adaptations; studios' efforts to produce higher-quality works with long-term planning are making such early announcements more frequent.
In the coming period, news about the series' voice cast, studio, and first trailer are expected. This new adaptation, following Miki Yoshikawa's works that have also reached a wide fan base in Turkey, has already placed itself at the top of the watchlist for romantic comedy fans.
