Heir to a Monstermancer Novel Series Anime Adaptation Announced: Cast and Studio Revealed
With the official announcement made in recent days, the television anime adaptation of the novel series Heir to a Monstermancer by author Damu Amato and illustrator Shirabii has officially begun. The anime will be produced by Project No.9 studio, which has previously worked on titles such as The Hidden Dungeon Only I Can Enter and The Genius Prince's Guide to Raising a Nation Out of Debt.
The lead cast of the project, announced on July 3, 2026, includes Manaka Iwami (main character), Chiaki Kobayashi, and veteran voice actor Akio Ōtsuka. Ōtsuka is particularly known for his roles as Marshall D. Teach (Blackbeard) in One Piece and Van Hohenheim in Fullmetal Alchemist. It is stated that the director's seat will be occupied by a yet-to-be-announced name; however, considering the studio's past works, a high-quality adaptation is expected.
Heir to a Monstermancer was originally published on the Japanese web novel platform Shōsetsuka ni Narō and quickly gained a large fanbase. The story follows a hero who is a 'Monstermancer' with the power to control and create monsters, on a journey of self-discovery while fighting dark forces. The series' illustrator Shirabii is also known in the anime world as the illustrator of the Mushoku Tensei light novel series.
This announcement is especially exciting for fans of fantasy and action genres. The colorful and fluid animation style that Project No.9 studio has displayed in its previous works seems very suitable for the exotic monster designs and magical universe of Heir to a Monstermancer. Additionally, although the English translation of the novel series has not yet been completed, it is expected to reach a global audience through the anime.
