Hell Mode is based on a popular light novel series written by Hamuo and illustrated by Moto. The story follows a young man living an ordinary life who is suddenly thrown into a game world, finding himself in the hardest difficulty mode. The first season aired in fall 2023 and was particularly noted for its strategy-focused action scenes and character development. The anime adaptation is produced by Studio C2C and directed by Yoshito Mikamo.
The new season's additional voice cast includes names such as Kazuki Ura (a new antagonist), Rina Hidaka, and Shōya Chiba. Details of the characters they will portray are still being kept secret, but brief glimpses of them appear in the trailer. The second season will focus on the new threats and alliances our hero faces after the great battle at the end of the first season.
Hell Mode anime has built a solid fanbase among both light novel readers and anime fans. In particular, its realistic handling of challenging game mechanics and the main character's intellectual strategies appeal to genre enthusiasts.
