High School of the Dead Returns: New Game "Day 0" Launches on April 28

One of the most iconic works in the world of zombie-themed anime and manga, High School of the Dead, is returning to its fans with a new project after exactly 15 years. Announced by CTW Cayman and set to be released on the G123 platform, High School of the Dead Day 0 will officially launch on April 28. This browser-based survival and tower defense RPG promises to bring a fresh breath of air to the series' long-silent universe.
In the game, players will take on the role of the series' protagonist, Takashi Komuro, to defend a settlement against hordes of zombies known as "Them." The game, which also features beloved characters such as Rei Miyamoto, Saeko Busujima, and Saya Takagi, features character art that has been specially recreated for the game. Additionally, various collectible contents, such as original costumes not seen in the anime series and a special "Kunoichi" skin for Saeko, will be waiting for players.
High School of the Dead was originally a manga series written by Daisuke Sato and illustrated by Shoji Sato. The 12-episode anime adaptation, produced by the Madhouse studio in 2010, became a global phenomenon with its action and bold approach to the zombie genre. However, the passing of the series' author Daisuke Sato in 2017 due to heart failure left the story unfinished and largely extinguished fans' hopes for a second season. Illustrator Shoji Sato had decided not to continue the series after the author's passing.
This new game is of great importance in keeping the series' legacy alive and offering fans new content after all these years. High School of the Dead Day 0 is not just a game, but also a sign that this cult brand is still active. The game, which will be free-to-play, will appeal to a global audience with multi-language support including Japanese, English, and Korean. In this new adventure focusing on the early days of the zombie apocalypse, the struggle for survival continues where it left off.
