How Do We Relationship? Manga Live-Action Adaptation Starts in September

The long-awaited news has arrived: the How Do We Relationship? manga series will be released as a live-action adaptation in September 2026. According to Anime News Network, the adaptation will star Riho Sayashi and Sakurako Konishi. Although the platform on which the series will air has not yet been clarified, it is reported that production is complete and the release date has been officially announced.
Tamifull's How Do We Relationship? began serialization in Shueisha's Young Jump magazine (later in Tonari no Young Jump) in 2018. The story tells, in a sincere and realistic manner, the process of two young women starting university, Miwa and Saeko, transitioning from friendship to a romantic relationship. Having become one of the most beloved examples of the yuri genre, the manga completed its 11-volume journey in 2024 and gained a large fanbase both in Japan and internationally.
This adaptation is an important step for the yuri genre to gain more visibility in the mainstream. Previously, anime adaptations of works like Citrus and Bloom Into You received great interest, but adapting a yuri manga in live-action series format is relatively rare. Tamifull's way of handling the emotional depth between characters and the subtleties of daily life seems likely to bring the same warmth to the series. The performances of the lead actors, Riho Sayashi (former Morning Musume member) and Sakurako Konishi, are eagerly anticipated.
No further announcements have been made regarding the director and the broadcasting channel. Official promotional trailers and posters are expected to be shared in the coming weeks. The live-action series How Do We Relationship?, starting in September, promises to offer a sincere and touching story for both manga fans and viewers new to the yuri genre.
