New Trailer for the Anime I Made Friends With the Second Prettiest Girl in My Class: The Cast Expands!

As the Spring 2026 anime season continues in full swing, exciting news has arrived from the camp of I Made Friends With the Second Prettiest Girl in My Class (Kurasu de 2-banme ni Kawaii Onna no Ko to Tomodachi ni Natta), a series on the radar of genre enthusiasts. The official team behind the series released a third promotional video (PV) as the story deepens, announcing three new voice actors joining the cast. In the new trailer, the series' intimate atmosphere is showcased once again, accompanied by the track "Hi no Ataru Kotoba" (Words in the Sunlight) performed by the band reGretGirl.
According to the new announcement, Rikuya Yasuda will voice the character Nozomu Seki, Shinji Kawada will voice Itsuki Maehara, and Yurina Amami will bring the character Kyoka Minato to life. These names will bring a fresh breath of air to the already strong cast, which includes leads such as Haruki Ishiya (Maki Maehara) and Manaka Iwami (Umi Asanagi). The production, which premiered on April 7, 2026, and is currently available to stream on Crunchyroll, follows the unconventional friendship between Umi Asanagi, known as the "second prettiest girl" in class, and the introverted Maki Maehara.
Looking at the history of the series, we see that it originated as a web novel started by author Takata on the Kakuyomu platform in 2020. Gaining popularity in a short time, the work was published under the Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko label and has managed to sell over 1 million copies worldwide. The anime adaptation, produced by Studio CONNECT, is directed by Hideki Tachibana, with Keiichiro Ochi in charge of the screenplay.
