The Stepfamily That Doesn't Bully Me Anime Adaptation Launches July 8 – New Cast and Promotional Video Released

The long-awaited anime adaptation of the romantic comedy The Stepfamily That Doesn't Bully Me (originally Itte Konai Gibo to Gibō) will officially premiere on July 8, 2025. Based on the manga series by Otsuji, the production has increased excitement with the release of a new main promotional video and new cast announcements.
The voice cast includes Nemoto Kyōri (Miyako), Uchiyama Yumi (Yayoi), and M・A・O (Erika). Alongside previously announced main cast members, these three will bring to life the stepmother and stepsister dynamics at the heart of the story. The studio and director have not been officially announced yet, but the initial teaser images released in previous months had already attracted attention.
The series follows high school student Kaito, whose life changes when his father remarries. His new stepmother Miyako and stepsister Yayoi do not treat him as expected. Turning typical stepfamily clichés on their head, the story humorously depicts Kaito trying to cope with these warm and unexpected relationships. The original manga received full marks from readers for Otsuji's artwork and character depth.
The new main promotional video also featured the opening and ending theme songs for the first time. The opening song is titled „Hajimari no Hibi“ (Days of Beginning), while the ending song is „Yasashii Uso“ (Gentle Lie). The artists performing both songs will be announced in the coming days.
For anime fans, this adaptation brings a new breath to the recently popular 'kind stepfamily' subgenre. Following in the footsteps of works like Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear and The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten, the series will especially captivate those who love warm and comforting stories. The anime premieres in Japan on July 8 and may also be available on international platforms in the following weeks. Keep an eye on official sources for detailed broadcast schedule and studio information.
