Iwamoto-senpai no Suisen Anime Starts in July: New Trailer and Legendary Voice Actor Announced!

There is exciting news about the Iwamoto-senpai no Suisen (Iwamoto-senpai's Recommendation) anime, written by Hiroshi Shiibashi, the creator of the Nurarihyon no Mago (Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan) series, which has a large fan base! According to the official announcement, the series will meet viewers in July 2025. The second promotional video and new visual released with the announcement offer great clues for fans curious about the series' atmosphere.
The names joining the anime's voice cast have taken the expectations for the project to the next level. Legendary voice actor Akira Ishida has joined the cast to voice the character Kurosu. Along with the previously announced leads Yusuke Kobayashi (Iwamoto) and Sayumi Watabe (Yume), Ishida's performance seems set to reinforce the mysterious vibe of the series. The new trailer showcases the dynamics between the characters and the series' unique visual style more clearly than ever before.
Iwamoto-senpai no Suisen features a story set in Japan's fascinating Taisho era, blending military academy life with supernatural events. Our main character, Iwamoto, is tasked with investigating strange and unexplained phenomena across the country based on "recommendations" received from his superiors at the academy. The manga, which has been serialized in Shueisha's Ultra Jump magazine since 2021, is known for Shiibashi's detailed drawing style and deep world-building.
This adaptation is a candidate to be one of the most ambitious productions of the summer season, especially for anime lovers who enjoy historical fiction and supernatural mystery genres. Given the success of Hiroshi Shiibashi's previous works, Iwamoto-senpai no Suisen is expected to set the bar high in terms of both visuals and storytelling. Details regarding new character designs and opening/ending songs are planned to be shared leading up to the premiere date in July.
