J-Pop Stars on the European Stage: The 2025 Journey of Rico Sasaki and Yukka

The world of J-pop and anime continues to transcend Japan's borders, becoming a global phenomenon. Most recently, popular voice actress and singer Rico Sasaki and rising star Yukka met with their international fanbases by performing at some of Europe's largest Japanese culture events. These events, which took place in the final quarter of 2025, once again proved how much the influence of J-pop artists in the Western market has strengthened.
Rico Sasaki, who brings to life the characters Raana Kaname in the BanG Dream! It's MyGO!!!!! series and Uika Misumi in the band Ave Mujica, took the Japan Weekend Valencia 2025 event in Spain by storm. During the event held on November 22-23, Sasaki held a Q&A session with her fans and captivated the Spanish audience with her energy on stage. The artist, who began her career in 2008 with the Annie musical and is known for productions such as Dropkick on My Devil! (Poporon) and Kiratto Pri Chan (Daia), expressed how exciting it is for her to perform on international stages.
On the other hand, singer-songwriter Yukka, known for her unique voice and profound lyrics, was the star of the Hyper Japan Manchester 2025 event in the United Kingdom. Performing at the festival held between November 14-16, Yukka stated that she was very happy with the interest shown by her fans in Manchester. The artist, whose CDs sold out in seconds at Japan Expo Paris 2023, had previously made a significant impact in Europe with her collaboration titled DIFFERAN with French rapper Cookiesan. At her Manchester concert, the artist performed both her old hits and new works that stand out for their emotional depth.
These types of events serve as a critical bridge for Japanese artists to connect with the global community, going beyond mere musical performances. Platforms like Hyper Japan and Japan Weekend demonstrate what a significant economic and cultural force the music branch of the anime industry has become. For fans, these meetings offer the opportunity to hear the voices behind their favorite characters live and to get to know the personal worlds of the artists. As we enter 2026, this momentum is expected to continue growing with Yukka's new single Yurei Railway and Rico Sasaki's ongoing voice acting projects.
