Jura's Popular Manga 'Kanojo no Tomodachi' Gets Anime in 2026!

One of the notable works in the manga world, Kanojo no Tomodachi (My Girlfriend's Friend) by Jura, is making headlines with news that will delight fans: the series will receive a TV anime adaptation in 2026. This exciting announcement was crowned with a special celebratory illustration personally drawn by the mangaka and a new visual released by the anime team.
Kanojo no Tomodachi first began serialization on Kodansha's YanMaga Web platform in May 2021 and quickly reached a wide readership. This high school-themed series, blending drama, ecchi, and romance genres, has been published in six volumes as of October 2025, achieving significant commercial success with over 1 million copies sold in total. The story revolves around high school student Takeru Hidaka, who is dating his first girlfriend, Kaori Koga. However, things get complicated when Kaori's best friend, Tomoko Yoshioka, begins to seduce Takeru, forming a complex, secret web of relationships among the trio.
The anime will be produced by WWWave Corporation's Deregula anime label, known for its short-form anime adaptations often aimed at adult audiences. This suggests that the adaptation will be a mature production, reflecting the 'immorality,' 'love triangle' themes, and 'provocative' nature found in the manga's source material. Mangaka Jura's previous work on adult doujin also provides clues about the tone of this adaptation. Following the anime announcement, a significant wave of discussion erupted among fans on social media; some highlighted the controversial nature of the story, while others wondered how such themes would be conveyed in the anime.
